BI 231 INDEPENDENT LABORATORY PROJECT WORKSHEET 2

Individual Preparation for SOCIAL INTERACTION ASSESSMENT

Name: ___________________________________________________

Each of you came to lab with several questions about physiology drawn from lab experiences and from the literature. After discussing these within your lab group and with the class, you should have decided on one that your group wants to study.

You are ready to start writing a group RESEARCH PROPOSAL. This is the document in which you convince us that what you want to do is important enough and well-planned enough for us to let you use the laboratory equipment for it.

Your group work on the proposal constitutes the first part of your Social Interaction Assessment. Part of your validation depends on being prepared enough to contribute effectively to your group. Fill out this sheet before the group work to make sure you are prepared.

What is the question you want to study?

Why do you want to study it? (Give well-reasoned answers that indicate that the question has some real-life significance and/or relation to current studies of the topic).

Hasn't this already been done? (To answer this you will have to do a literature search. Even if the project has already been done, you may find reasons why you should do it again. Perhaps you have a different study group, or intend to use a different kind of stimulus.)

What is the physiology underlying your study? What organs and systems are involved? What topics should your group research further to really understand the physiology?
